Oak Cottage at Buckland Court is the largest of the courtyard cottages skilfully rebuilt as new from the original farm buildings some 10 years ago using traditional local materials. The three newer cottages are grouped around a quiet courtyard. Oak blends in with the older lower courtyard cottages and shares the use of all the facilities enjoyed by these properties. Also, being newer, it is furnished and equipped to a high standard and level of comfort. Modern insulation and double glazing ensure this cottage is ideal for off-season use. Downstairs
Approached through a courtyard, the front door leads into a hall with a tiled floor and plenty of room for coats and boots. Off the hall is a large shower room. A notable feature of the cottage is its spacious open plan kitchen and dining area seating for 14 with child's high chair. The kitchen is fully equipped with a Rangemaster having gas hob and electric oven. Also a microwave, fridge, fridge-freezer, freezer, dishwasher, washing machine and tumble drier. The large lounge has a Freeview TV, video and DVD as well as ample comfortable furniture. Games area TV, snooker/table tennis games table. UpstairsUpstairs there are five bedrooms. The Master bedroom has a 5ft double bed with en suite shower. Bedroom 2 has a 5ft bed & wash basin with ample room for a travel cot - provided. Bedrooms 3 & 4 have twin beds, one zip linked. Bedroom 3 has a wash basin. A fifth bedroom has a double bunk under and single over (limited clothes hanging space). Most rooms have windows overlooking the courtyard apart from the bunk bedroom, the smaller twin bedroom, bathroom and shower rooms. There are duvets on all beds and bed linen is provided with the beds made up in advance. Towels can be provided at extra charge. Oak Cottage's spacious living and dining accommodation means that it can be used in conjunction with neighbouring cottages or Buckland House as the base for larger parties and yet it is cosy enough for intimate family holidays. There is gas central heating. Gas and electricity are all included in the price. There is allocated parking space for 2 cars within the courtyard itself with additional parking behind Buckland House stable block. The free Broadband internet connection is via a RJ45 network socket (no Wi-fi available). Please remember to bring your own RJ45 patch cable.

The Dart Valley This unique Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty is particularly popular with sailors, artists and fishermen and those who enjoy the peaceful tranquillity in a truly rural environment. Delightful riverside villages such as Dittisham, Tuckenhay, Cornworthy, Stoke Gabriel and Ashprington whose unspoilt tree lined banks, secret creeks and countryside sweeping down to the river have been inspirational to many writers, ornithologists and photographers. Watch the spectacle of the Port of Dartmouth Royal Regatta which takes place annually over three days at the end of August. Take a cruise from Dartmouth to Totnes and make it a circular journey by taking the open top bus between Totnes and Paignton and returning on the Paignton and Dartmouth Steam Railway.
Boat trips from Dartmouth take you up the river past Stoke Gabriel to the bohemian market town at Totnes. With its medieval winding streets, historic town walls and ancient castle Totnes makes for an interesting visit. The host of cafes restaurants and alternative independent shops are a delight to browse for a while. Twice a week there is a market offering second-hand books, handmade clothing, antiques, musical instruments and local organically produced products. After your purchase, you may well be offered 'Totnes pounds' as part of your change. Totnes was the first town in Britain to introduce its own local alternative currency. Many shops and businesses in the town accept the Totnes pound as payment. It is designed to help reduce "food miles" while also supporting local firms. The scheme is part of the Transition Towns concept — a grassroots network of communities that are working to build resilience in response to peak oil, climate destruction, and economic instability.
